So then my lines are spotty & broken all over. The ink just pools on the stamp, like oil & water. ![]() Yes, this is exactly what is happening with both sets. Otherwise, the great thing about this hobby is that there are TONS of companies to choose from and chances are you can find similar images from a company that sells better quality clear stamps. If they are images you particularly like and don't want to give up on. If you use all the hints given here, and adjust your stamping style to not press down so hard on the paper when using these squishier stamps, you may find you can get a stamped image that you like well enough to keep using the stamps. Type in Copics Paper in the search field and see what you come up with. There are many threads here on Splitcoast as well that talk about the paper to use for Copics. There is also paper out there sold specifically for Copic coloring if you do some searching. And many people love the Neenah Solar White for Copics. I don't use Copics myself, but I've read that the Gina K paper is good for those as the markers won't bleed through. Some of the best brands I've used: Stampin'Up Whisper White or Very Vanilla, ( they are an ultra smooth finish and give a good stamped image ).Gina K Designs heavy base weight or layering weight, and Papertrey Ink white or cream. Before giving up on a stamp completely be sure you have tried it on good paper. Of the brands easily available at "big box" craft stores like Michael's, AC Moore, or Hobby Lobby I can get decent results with Penny Black and Inkadinkado clear stamps. Cheaper stamps ( more squishy ) will give you a poor result. ![]() Of the two brands you are considering, I like Mama Elephant a little more.Īgree with the other responses. I think they are acrylic you really want photopolymer. neither Fiskars nor HS stamps are particularly high quality, IMO. Help! I would love to get some prettier stamps (thinking of getting some Simon Says Stamps or Mama Elephant), but am worried it might be my stamp pad, or what? The Fiskars ones feel a bit greasy, but don't leave residue on my hands when I touch them. And the Heidi Swapp ones feel greasy (and leave a grease mark on my fingers - I've used baby wipes to try to clean them up). ![]() They seem really soft, in comparison to the Close to My Heart clear stamps I used to use. I CANNOT get a crisp, clean image from any of them. Recently, I've purchased some Memento ink, and a few packages of clear stamps from Michaels (Fiskars brand, and Heidi Swapp). I've recently decided to get back into it, along with Copic coloring. I've used stamps before, and have always had good success with them, but haven't done it for ages.
